It’s carnival in Italy

This week is the week of Carnival in Italy, which will last until “Fat Tuesday”, the last day before Ash Wednesday when the Lent period will start. The Lent will last 6 weeks until Easter.  As good (and less good) Catholics also the italians find it a good excuse to have some fun.

The carnival in Venice anyone knows and the costumes they make are absolutely astonishing. But also in the less mondain Umbria the people will not let carnival pass by without some celebrations, even in our small village:

  1. Looks like lots of fun. When I was young, I went to Carnival in Trinidad, which is one of the bigger ones. The costumes and floats were amazing, with people dancing, parading through the streets all night long. Exhausting!
