Foreign tomatoes in Italy……

You want the real Italian experience so you drive, fly, or walk a long distance to the green heart of il bel paese. The sun is shining the bees are buzzing you rented your holiday home via, all is fine. Travelling makes you hungry so off you go to find some ingredients for a tasty italian summer salad. You enter a supermarket grab some good looking lettuce and are greeted by tomatoes… from Holland!

Yes you read that correctly, pommodori all the way from Holland and the funny thing is that these well formed, fluorescent, pinkish fruit cost the same as their Italian colleagues! Stick to the Italian Cuore di Bue is the villainumbria tip of the day, they really taste better. Cudos to the Dutch however for managing to sell tomatoes to pommodoro country numero uno in the world.
